Did you know that you can watch live TV and pre-recorded programs on your home computer for free without the need to pay any cable or satellite TV subscriptions? This includes access to most of the major television channels. There are a number of ways that you can watch TV on your computer. Some are totally free while others require you to purchase special equipment and subscribe to television providers.

1. Watch TV On Your Computer using your browser over the internet.

With this method, you only need access to the internet through dial-up, high-speed internet or broadband. The quality of your viewing experience will depend on the speed of your internet connection and how powerful your computer is. Those with later computer models and broadband internet access get a much better picture than those on dial-up. The channels available through web based TV are very diverse and may include popular stations such as CNN, TSN, ABC, HBO and many others. You may also be able to Watch TV on your computer from other countries and in different languages. To watch live TV or pre-recorded programs just visit the website of the TV channel that you're interested in and you'll find instructions on their website about how to watch TV from their site. Some providers require you to have windows media player or real player on your computer in order to be able to watch their TV programs

2. Watch TV On Your Computer by installing a TV Tuner card.

A pc tuner card allows TV signals to be received by a pc or computer. Some pc tuner cards can also be used as video capture cards so that you can record TV programs and store them on your computer hard drive. TV tuner cards that support digital television broadcasts are also available and some of them can display HDTV (high-definition television) images on your computer monitor. There are many companies that manufacture TV tuner cards but the most popular cards have the Hauppauge brand.

A TV tuner card will allow you to watch high quality TV on your computer. You don't even need an internet connection because most of them only require you to connect a TV aerial. Normally, you'd be able to access all the channels that are available on your local television network. With a subscription, you can access cable and satellite TV channels using these cards. Instructions about how to install the card are included when you purchase the tuner card. Some cards are standalone (external card) but others need to be installed inside your pc (internal card).

3. Watch TV On Your Computer by using software

This is one of the most popular methods. It gives you free access to thousands of TV channels including local TV and digital satellite television channels. The viewing experience will depend on the software and also on the quality of the TV signal that is being streamed by the television channel.
